SUPPORTING PROGRAMME

BRAINIACS: A BRAIN TRAIL
An interactive exhibition all about the brain helps visitors understand many neurological phenomena. Guests can marvel at optical illusions and learn why they cannot trust their eyes. They can test their ability to concentrate and look at astonishing anatomic specimens. For all young or young at heart visitors there is a model brain made of Lego. With the help of instructions it can be recreated at home. Last but not least, our young scientists (11 to 15 years of age) explain how we are able to hear and see color by performing tests with our visitors, or they the show how to model a brain from clay.
DANCING KEEPS YOU FIT: TRIAL DANCE LESSON WITH TONIS TANZSCHULE
Since 2008 the Ruhr-University’s Neural Plasticity Lab has been investigating the positive effects of dancing on the ageing process. The result: dancing keeps you fit. Tonis Tanzschule and CLUB AGILANDO pick up on these findings and present a combination of dancing, rhythmic gymnastics and entertaining choreographies to watch and to try out.

APPLIED NEUROPLASTICITY – FROM THE LABORATORY TO EVERYDAY LIFE
How can findings in neuroscientific research be transferred to therapy? Where do we come in contact with the results and consequences of neuroplasticity in our everyday lives? The “Neural Plasticity Lab” presents chosen examples and hands-on demonstrations.
