PAINTING COMPETITION:Today, tomorrow, beyond tomorrow – The brain of the future

It weighs as much as a pineapple. Consumes as much energy as a light bulb. And has around 86 billion nerve cells – ten times more than the number of people living on earth. It took nature more than 650 million years to develop what were initially very simple nervous systems in the animal world into the human brain. But where is the future heading?

What will our brain be able to do in 100,000 years? Will we be smarter or will the brain take a permanent break? What do we still need our brains for at that point?

Paint us a picture of how you imagine the brain of the future and send us your ideas.

All pupils in classes 3 and 4 at primary schools in Bochum can take part.

Please send your picture with your name, address, school and class as well as the completed entry form (available at www.rub.de/igsn) by 24 October 2022 (closing date) to:
