Sensory Processes: From Molecules To Cognition
On April 12th and 13th, 2016, the International Graduate School of Neuroscience, together with Collaborative Research Centre 874, hosted the 8th annual IGSN/SFB 874 Conference. The conference, entitled “Sensory Processes – From Molecules to Cognition”, focused on the research conducted on sensory systems and processes in Collaborative Research Centres throughout Germany. Twelve scientists presented their latest findings:

- Mark Hübener, Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology, Martinsried

The event was hosted by seven doctoral students of the IGSN and the Integrated Research Training Group (IRTG) of the SFB 874. Their introductions to the speakers, their biographies, and their fields of expertise were delivered very professionally. You did a great job!
Over 100 students and guests attended the conference, which was opened by Prof. Dr. Denise Manahan-Vaughan, speaker of SFB 874, and director/dean of the IGSN and Prof. Dr. Ulf Eysel, speaker of the IGSN. They extended a warm welcome to all participants and especially to the guests who had travelled to Bochum from neuroscientific SFB’s in Bonn, Tübingen, Heidelberg, Hamburg, München, Martinsried, and Göttingen.
During the poster sessions, students took the opportunity to discuss their research with the visiting scientists and learn more about the work done at other SFBs on similar topics. Many of these conversations were continued with a glass of Greek wine and other Mediterranean delicacies at the invitational dinner on the evening of April 12th.
