Cortical and behavioural correlates of somatosensory plasticity: bottom-up vs. top-down modulation

Summary

Perceptual learning is a form of implicit learning where perceptual abilities improve through practice, training or pure exposure to sensory stimulation protocols. Our previous studies showed that perceptual learning is controlled by input statistics on the one hand, and by inhibitory and neuromodulatory processes on the other hand. We now address the relationship between inhibition markers and brain states, and we explore transmodal and crossmodal sensory processing and plasticity. To study transmodal processing, we extend our conceptual and methodological scope to include nociceptive processing.
